The 32nd Annual Conference, held jointly by the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association and the Southeast U.S./Japan (SEUS/Japan) Association, was produced for the State of North Carolina. This complex, multi-faceted program took place over five days, and brought together 200 Japanese and 500 U.S. Business Leaders from nine southern states in Raleigh, NC. The program included over 20 events over a five-day period, including five off-site tours to Lowes Motor Speedway, NC State Fair, RTP/Region Tours, Seagrove Potteries, etc., and a separate spouse program.
The program included a two-day conference, attendee reception, Chairman’s Dinner, Gala dinner and after party at Progress Energy Center. Local performers such as Nnenna Freelon, with the North Carolina Symphony, entertained guests for the opening dinner, and TSEC commissioned a customized history of North Carolina in song and dance for the gala, featuring the NC Ballet with the Grammy winning Red Clay Ramblers, and experts from the Broadway stage performance of Blackbeard.
TSEC worked very closely with Japanese cultural experts to ensure that the international visitors were welcomed with simultaneous translation, dual language signage, announcements and collateral and menus catered to the Japanese palate with non-dairy options. Press management included live broadcasts of the State Governor’s Press Conference and news feeds to Japan, including an interview with the Japanese Ambassador.
